Readmission after Academic Dismissal

Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programs

After a minimum of one year (12 consecutive calendar months), students who were academically dismissed may be eligible for readmission.

Conditions for Readmission:

  • The student’s GPA must allow for the possibility of achieving satisfactory academic standing within three consecutive semesters.
  • An academic advisor will define the minimum grade per course required for the student to regain satisfactory standing within that period.
  • Prior coursework will be evaluated for applicability to the new academic program.

Academic Record and Requirements:

  • All prior coursework, grades, and academic standing notations will remain on the student’s transcript.
  • Readmitted students must follow the academic program in effect at the time of readmission.
  • Students may be allowed to take more than one course per semester if approved, with required grades and course load determined jointly with the academic advisor.

Progress Monitoring:

  • Failing to meet minimum grade requirements in any semester will trigger recalculation of required grades.
  • Failure to achieve satisfactory standing within the set timeframe may result in a second and final dismissal.

Final Dismissal:

  • A second academic dismissal is final; students are not eligible for further readmission.
  • Dismissed students will be contacted by the Registrar, administratively dropped from all courses, and issued a full refund (tuition and fees).

Doctoral Program Readmission After Dismissal

Students academically dismissed from a doctoral program may be eligible for readmission after 12 consecutive calendar months. Students must:

  • Contact the doctoral program director for a review and approval process.
  • Be evaluated based on Walsh College’s academic standing policy and any applicable doctoral-specific criteria.

Financial Aid Considerations

In addition to Walsh College’s academic standing policies, the Financial Aid Office enforces a separate Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy for students receiving federal financial aid. Please refer to the Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid Recipients section of the Academic Catalog for detailed information.
